Investor Relations
Most private equity firms invest money, which has been raised externally. Each 'fund' raised has its own group of investors who must be kept informed of developments in the fund. When raising new funds, existing and new investors have to be targeted and informed of the ambitions and focus of the new fund. Sometimes this role is combined with marketing.
Investor relations and fund raising executives manage the relationship with investors. The role will include the following.
- Building and maintaining a database of existing and potential investors
- Keeping investors informed
- Identifying and educating new investors about your private equity firm
- Preparing presentations
- Briefing colleagues
- Co-ordinating relationship management internally and externally
- Monitoring the success of fund raising programmes
Skills and experience required
To undertake this role you will probably have most of the following.
- A good university degree
- At least five years marketing experience within a leading financial institution or professional firm
- Experience of contact database management
- Experience of selling and/or marketing to financial institutions
- Good client relationship skills
- A high degree of numeracy and financial sector understanding
