Private Equity
The phrase private equity is used for our purposes to refer to those firms or individuals who invest equity in mature businesses often incorporating debt into the structure of the investment in order to enhance their equity returns. The investments usually involve a significant change of ownership of the investee business as in buy-out or public to private situations. Most private equity firms would look for strong financial skills when considering candidates for an investment role.
The private equity firms tend to look for the following skills and experience.
- A first class or upper second class honours degree or equivalent
- At associate level a post graduate or professional qualification, usually MBA or ACA
- Ideally a second European language
And at least one of the following.
- Corporate finance advisory experience gained in either a leading investment bank or a leading professional firm. Cross border European exposure is a plus
- Strategic management consultancy experience gained within a leading firm
- Acquisition finance or relevant structured finance experience
